Hi, I’m Barbara Qualmann. After years of owning and running an industry news monitoring service, one of the biggest lessons learned was that news, delivered to enterprise executives, especially in the tech industry, had to be timely, smart, concise, and most of all, credible. And this is the foundation on which HighTech Industry News (HTIN) was built.
News, that is credible, is earned. It's not placed or sponsored. In my experience, I've found by providing leadership with only news from legitimate sources and written by industry experts, readers will begin to trust they're getting a true picture of the industry. And this is what separates us from other news monitoring services. We do the hard work. Apps and software can pick up key words, but they can't replace the human brain that can distinguish between pay-to-play news and earned media.
Being a news junkie for as long as I can remember, journalism seemed to be a natural fit. Working in network news, shooting and producing a few too many fire and a murder packages, the world of technology, science, and medicine, became a welcome transition.
When Time Warner Cable came knocking with the world’s first digital, interactive television network (the FSN), managing News on Demand was my first peek inside the world of cable, telecom, and OTT. Streaming video and all the new technologies and services that followed, made it nearly impossible to keep up with it all.
And that’s where, 11 years ago, the idea for a global news monitoring and human-curated news service, HighTech Industry News, began.
I am deeply passionate about this work because it allows me to do what I love while staying ahead of and sharing news about the ever-changing tech landscape. Because of this passion, I can provide a critical news service to clients.
